Can I install my own operating system on the servers?
We have a wide range of different Windows or Linux options to suit many different purposes. If none of these suits you, you can also use your own ISO file if you wish.
I can't connect to my Windows server
Windows servers do not have Remote Desktop enabled by default, so you must enable it separately using a VNC connection. You can do it easily by following the tutorial video we made.
My server can't find the network
Windows servers sometimes lose the network connection, for example during updates/reboot, in which case the Windows automation searches for the network settings incorrectly. In this case, they must be set up manually from Windows, for which you can find instructions here.
Where are the servers located?
All VPS servers are located in Lempäälä near Tampere in Tietokettu's own equipment space.
What kind of hardware do VPS servers work on?
Each VPS server works with fast DDR4 ECC memory and processing takes place with powerful Intel Xeon processors at 3.80Ghz speed.
What kind of network do the VPS servers have?
VPS servers work in a shared 1Gb/s network, where each product has its own dedicated IPv4 address.
Operating Systems for Every Purpose
There is not just one single correct operating system for a server because each operating system has its own strengths. That's why we strive to offer a wide range of different operating systems for Virtual Servers, so you can find the option that suits you best.
We have, among others: Ubuntu, Debian, AlmaLinux, CentOS, SUSE, and Windows Server. There are also multiple release versions available for these. Oh, didn't find what you were looking for? Our system also supports your own disk images, so you can practically install anything on the server. Just connect your disk image files to the public network using an HTTP connection, and our system will retrieve it using the provided URL address.
